From: BradGlennan .....--... expanding spectator numbers?!

I'm not sure I can agree with your way of thinking with the pricing of spectator tickets.
At the last Eastern Creek round, I had a group of 12 friends who had shown interest in my racing and really wanted to come out and take a look. Most of them were friends through other forms of life, not through motorsport, and most had never been to see motorcycle racing before. I took advantage of your offer of prebuying tickets at the reduced price that you offer, as well as finding a few other competitors with spare tickets.
Whilst they all seemed to love the racing, at the end of the day they came to see me race, not Kevin Curtain or any other "big name" rider. In fact most of them had never heard of Kevin Curtain or anyone else for that matter, so despite there being some genuine world class riders on display, it made no difference to them attending or not.
They all were keen to come again to the final round of the series. When I told them the price to come watch, unfotunately they all were not so keen anymore. So unfortunately there will be 12 less paying spectators at the final round. If the price were perhaps $5 or $10, im sure they wouldnt hesitate to pay that.
Just as a side note, most of my friends that came on the day, compete at a high level in other sports, such as road cycling, Mountain biking, Surf life saving. When I go and watch them compete, I dont have to pay an entry fee to watch them, and probably wouldnt go watch if I had to either.
Just another way of looking at things.
thanks for the email and offering your thoughts.
I'll ask you this question if you don't mind, if you were new to a sport and knew little about it and someone invited you to go watch it and they told you several of the best competitors in the world were competing at that event and it only cost $5 how good a spectacle would you think you were being invited to watch?
In this instance your friends came and saw some excellent racing yet apparently they feel what is compared to any major sporting activity a very reasonable GA price so to much to pay. Not everyone is or ever will be a racing fan and that is just the way it is.
We could make it free for spectators or reduce it down to $5, if that is what competitors want? But GA admission fees collected go towards paying to run the events so if we did then we would need to make up the shortfall some where else like increasing the competitor entry fees which I'm sure no competitor would be prepared to pay.
A couple of weeks ago the local council allowed a swap meet for old car parts t the local sports field. It cost $10 to get admission for those who just wanted to wonder around and look. Personally I reckon all you guys and ladies who race put on an excellent high class exciting show that is not rivalled by just about any sport I can think off. If its not worth $30 to pay to watch seven hours of top end motorcycle racing then I don't know what is?
